Glad to see the USMC getting some more toys, they certainly can't fight in the Pacific with just shoulder arms. But the other aspect of the Pacific Theater that concerns me is just how much we depend upon those numerous 'fixed points' scattered around in all that water. They are obviously both assets and vulnerabilities.
It’s been the result of visionary leadership planning for the next war rather than training for the last one. Whoever convinced the government to give every mating a HK rifle should be displayed on the Iwo Jima memorial.
I see optionally crewed ships as a stopgap until our new hulls comes up. There have been very interesting developments in drone ships for cargo and anti sub warfare. Look up Rapid Dragon…. It can change an opposing force navy pronouns to was/were.
